Update on federal action
Dear CUIMC community,
We are working closely with the University to better understand and navigate the announcement by the Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Department of Education (ED), and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) of the cancellation of $400 million in federal funding to the University. Linked here is a letter from Interim President Katrina Armstrong, sent yesterday.
We understand that yesterday’s federal announcement has caused considerable disquiet and uncertainty among our community. If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to your deans, chairs, unit leads, and student affairs teams, and to connect with the many health and well-being resources available across CUIMC and the University. If you receive a notice of termination, a “stop-work order,” a certification request, or another directive, please immediately contact your Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) program officer. Please visit the Office of the Executive Vice President’s Federal Research Updates 2025 webpage to stay abreast of the latest information and resources related to administrative actions.
Please be assured that we remain firmly dedicated to upholding our science, education, and patient care missions. As Interim President Armstrong wrote, "we believe in the power of knowledge to drive progress and improve lives. Our mission as a great research university does not waver.”
We will continue to keep our community updated and informed. Thank you for your continued resilience and your commitment to critical work to protect and improve health and save lives.
Sincerely,
