Steven Rosenberg Returns to Columbia as Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology
Steven E. Rosenberg, MD, an expert in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus (crossed eyes) and a graduate of Columbia’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, joined Columbia on June 1 as director of pediatric ophthalmology in the Department of Ophthalmology and the Anne S. Cohen Endowed Professor of Pediatric Ophthalmology at VP&S.
Rosenberg has more than 25 years of experience in pediatric ophthalmology, including pediatric cataract surgery and treatment of complex cases of strabismus in adults and children.
Before joining Columbia, Rosenberg served as co-director of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus Service at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, where he had been an attending physician, surgeon, and teacher since 2000. Rosenberg was active in resident education at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and at Mount Sinai and received seven awards from trainees for outstanding teaching and dedicated service in addition to the John S. Hermann, MD, Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2020.
After an ophthalmology residency at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, Rosenberg completed his postdoctoral training with a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the James Hall Eye Center at the Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center. He received his undergraduate education at Harvard College.
