212-305-3900 Marilyn Brimberg 212-304-7200 COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY PRESENTS PROGRAM ON COMPLEMENTARY AND ALTERNATIVE HEALING FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER WHAT: Columbia University Integrative Therapies Program for Children with Cancer, part of the oncology division in the Department of Pediatrics, is presenting an educational session called “The Truth About Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Can it Really Promote Healing?” WHO: Keynote Speaker: Kara Kelly, M.D., assistant professor of pediatrics, College of Physicians & Surgeons, Columbia University; medical director, Integrative Therapies Program for Children with Cancer, Columbia University Dr. Kelly will speak about the possible benefits of complementary and alternative therapies as an adjunct to traditional cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, surgery and radiation. Her discussion will focus on education, research, and clinical care. There also will be live interactive demonstrations in massage therapy, aromatherapy, and whole food preparation.
